There's something about Lisa...

It has been exciting times for my friend Lisa lately... Her pretty face has been popping up on super popular sites Style BubbleVogue Australia and Oyster Magazine... What a dream! Susie Bubble (Style Bubble) and Candice Lake (photographer and Vogue Street Chic contributor) spotted Lisa in Sydney while she was interning for 'Romance Was Born' at MBFWA a few weeks ago. This day was bound to come... Lisa is pretty much the most creatively beautiful person I know. Her style is so quirky and unique. With everything she creates you’re left with your jaw dropped in complete amazement that one person could be so clever...........

I have a few of her artworks in my home and every time I look at them they make me smile (I'll have to post photos one of these days). Not only does she create amazing works of art, she designs and sews her own clothes. They are unlike anything you’ve ever seen. Lisa artfully combines recycled fabrics and adorns them in jewels, studs, fur... you name it. She recently put on a fashion show at Honkytonks (where she has also created a beautiful mural on their wall) to launch her Autumn/Winter collection. I think I want everything she showed! I've featured some of my favourite photos from the event, taken by talented photographer Ben Davis.

Her exclusive designs will soon be available on Velvet Lane....... Keep an eye out for the launch... It's going to be amazing! And I'm not just saying that because I'm on the VL team... It really will blow your socks.
Until then, check out Our Clothes....................

Vintage Wonderland...

Today I picked up my friend Lisa T and we headed out for an adventure to a vintage clothes sale... It was absolutely, without a doubt, the biggest personal collection of vintage clothes I have ever seen... It really was amazing. We went nuts. Lisa found some beautiful fabrics, that she will no doubt turn into something wonderful... My favourite finds were a purple fringe dress from the 60s and a vest in the most stunning purple and gold fabric.
I was so impressed with amount of clothes this lady had collected over the years. She must have had a very colourful, shiny and interesting life... It was like a vintage wonderland!

If you missed the sale today, it's on again tomorrow... Check out the Liebe Bluhm facebook page for details.

At home with Margherita Missoni...

A few weeks ago I posted on the Pink Ink blog about the gorgeous Margherita Missoni. But I still couldn’t get enough of her style... Here are some more images by photographer Dylan Don that he took of Margherita in her Milan apartment for 'Lifestyle Mirror'

Margherita says, “Growing up, my home was always like an explosion... Full of color, full of paintings and pictures.” You can understand why the young Missoni heiress decided to personalise her own house by mixing colours, fabrics and works of amazing art by artists like Sironi and Seguso.

My little trip to the Love Vintage Show...

Anyone who loves vintage understands the excitement of discovering the perfect vintage or thrift store full of treasures. Take this excitement and times it by a thousand... That’s exactly how I felt last Friday night when I walked into Exhibition Park for the Love Vintage Show. As I entered I left the Canberra cold outside and instantly felt warm with excitement. It was like heaven. An amazing vintage heaven!
There were so many exhibitors selling the most stunning vintage pieces, all in incredible condition... Shoes, bags, hats, gloves, party frocks, gorgeous tops... Everything! Some designer - YSL, Chloé, DVF, Dior (the list goes on)... Some handmade. All gorgeous. I also discovered that it was the perfect place to get a sequin fix, with so many sparkling fabrics and embellished pieces... It made my heart melt and blood pressure rise.

The very first piece I tried on was an incredible royal blue silk velvet crop jacket from the 1930s. I decided I had to have it before I even tried it on. The next was a beautiful costume jewellery cocktail ring... I haven’t taken it off since. Feeling like I should be 'practical' I tried on a handmade gold knitted shawl... The lady who owned it told me she would to wear it in the 1970s to the theatre and shows. Then there was a fabulous long cream coat with silver embellishment on it. The woman who was selling it said it belonged to one of her friends in the 1960s, who would host amazing parties and wear the most stunning clothes... Apparently she smoked way too much and had a sexy deep voice that would make all the boys melt.
I loved hearing the stories behind the pieces I bought and the stories I didn’t get to hear, well I’m sure the previous owners would be happy to know that their once loved possessions are now being loved again.
That’s the beautiful thing about vintage, everything has its own past and story... and if you don’t know what the story was, you can now give it your own...

What will your story be?

I just started using Instagram...

...I wasn’t really sure what I was doing, so to have a play I took a photo of my mantelpiece and new favourite chair. I love the vintage shoes on display... I bought them from a friend and tried to convince myself they fit, but alas the only thing that will be wearing them is my fireplace. The frame in the middle is also vintage, it holds a clipping from a book that I loved so much I had to frame it. Sometimes we all need a reminder to smile... :) The second photo is of a vintage chair I just bought. I was pretty excited to give it a new loving home. I love creating little corner pockets with furniture.

The little things...

Sometimes it’s the small things that can bring the most happiness... Art, books and love. Heaven.

These photos were taken in my home by Peta Rudd... She is so cleaver and talented. She did a little post on me for her blog http://petarudd.com/blog/pieces-of-me-megan/
You should check out the rest of her work, her website is filled with gorgeous and inspiring images... I could spend all day lost in its loveliness.

I’ll post more from her shoot soon...

Girls Garage Sale...

Our wardrobes had burst open and our spare rooms taken over. It seems that when it comes to clothes my friends and I seem to suffer from the same issue... Too many clothes, not enough space. We all have our own story... One friend had to scatter her collection over three houses just so they would all fit. Another friend has taken over the back shed. One has suitcases packed of unwanted clothes, just in case there is a surprise sale to sell at, she’s all ready to go... And I’ve had to forgo having a housemate so my clothes can have their own room (If only they paid rent).

It seems when we started talking about this affliction, more girls opened up about their hoarding, so we decided to unite and do something about it...
Yesterday, five of us joined together for a monster garage sale of all our loved clothes that we could no longer hold on to.

It was such a gorgeous day, the sun was shining, we had the lovely DJ Anush from Phat Funk entertainment (http://phatfunkentertainment.com.au/) playing some tunes and we had delicious handmade cupcakes on sale...

Thanks to everyone who came and enjoyed the day with us. We will be holding another sale in the future, so keep an eye on the Liebe Bluhm facebook page for details.

Poncho dreams...

Sometimes you find love in the most unexpected places. The other day I was in a costume hire shop and they had the most amazing beaded poncho. Of course the shop assistant said 'no' when I asked if I could by it... So I took a sneaky photo of it (far left) and popped it in the pile of unrequited loves. I imagine if I were to own it, I would wear it with a pretty dress and pom pom heels.
Ah to dream...
